THE RIDESHARE COMPANY PROVIDES BOTH VANS AND ENTERTAINMENT FOR SPECIAL NEEDS ORGANIZATION
UNCASVILLE, Conn. – October 1, 2008– Participating in this year’s Riverview Country Fair is just one way The Rideshare Company partners with Seabird Enterprises, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides opportunities to individuals with developmental disabilities in the Connecticut region – The Rideshare Company also is the organization’s key transportation provider.
“We are very happy with the Rideshare program,” commented Doug Newmann, Director of Seabird Enterprises, Inc. “[Working with Rideshare] is financially beneficial to our organization, as we no longer have to maintain old run-down vans or worry about drivers.” Since commencing their relationship with Rideshare in 1998, Seabird Enterprises has recommended The Rideshare Company program to several other agencies.
The Rideshare Company participated in this year’s well-attended Riverview Country Fair, which was held on September 5 at the Riverview Horse Farm in Uncasville, by sponsoring Mr. Bungles The Balloon Artist – a clown who provided great entertainment for people of all ages. The fair was a free-admission event sponsored by Seabird Enterprises, designed to provide a day of fun, learning, and excitement for area special needs students and adults who attend and/or participate in the organization’s work opportunity programs. The event also recognized several individuals who have provided 15 and 20 years of valuable service to Seabird Enterprises.
“This fair is a great opportunity for the special needs population,” said Jon Colman, CEO of The Rideshare Company.
In addition to Seabird Enterprises staff and the special needs individuals and families, there were several other attendees that either volunteered at or donated to the event. Other than Rideshare, these attendees included Alternative Services, Inc., ARC of New London, BAROCO Corporation, Sunset Hills, Inc., Tri-County ARC, UCP, Lighthouse Voc-Ed Center, Easter Seals, Guide, Inc., ECDC, Reliance House, Seacorp Inc., Sharp Training, Inc., and Buckingham Community Services. Special thanks were given to many of these organizations, as well as other local companies and families who contributed to the event.
The Rideshare Company actively plans for more participation in the event for next year, and will send more of its employees to take part in the festivities.
